On our fourth day of kindergarten many parts of our routine the children are now doing on their own. The children are coming into the classroom now, going to their locker, unpacking, greeting their friends and teacher, washing their hands and signing in. We explored a Scholastic News about school feelings. We read and enjoyed a book called You Will Be My Friend! by Peter Brown. We worked together on a book response: What Makes a Great Kindergarten Friend? We reviewed the six shapes and colors that make up our pattern blocks. We are working to complete and create an AB pattern.
The children are signing in daily, practicing writing their name with the first letter capital followed by lowercase. They are learning about tall letters, small letters and tail letters.
Lunch from home: Kindergarten is eating lunch in the classroom.
Quiet Time (rest) follows lunch.
Pete the Cat loves being read to at Quiet Time!
Quiet Time: Instrumental music is played, sometimes with a calming visual.
Outdoor time: yellow zone.
Choice Time!
