7th Day of Kindergarten!

Our classroom began Writer's Workshop Thursday!  We read Rocket Writes a Story by Ted Hills before writing our very first story in kindergarten.  Writer's Workshop typically begins with a mentor text and/or mini lesson, includes independent writing time, and ends with sharing our writing.  We also read Elmer by David McKee.  Watercolor paints were introduced and everyone painted an Elmer of their own.  With a little guidance everyone tried scissors.  The elephants are hung in our classroom for all to enjoy.  If your child brought one home it's because they chose to do another at Choice Time.  After reading this story our word study included color words.  We also learned several ways to read the word wall!  In our math block we created a birthday graph.  Our days have been so full!
