Pocket charts are often used to introduce features of print to children.
Our class is working on reading color words.
The children are working on using a known pattern to help them read.
They are working on using picture clues to read a tricky word or confirm the word.
They are practicing keeping careful match as they read.

A Quiet Time choice on Wednesday: whiteboards
She labeled her two pictures, so exciting!
The children are writing snap words they know how to read and spell
and writing the letters they hear in words to sound out the words
they wish to write that they do not already know how to spell.
Handwriting: lowercase c and o practice on the chalkboards.
You will hear your child refer to this as a "Magic C letter"
Magic c turns into many letters.
Handwriting Without Tears starts with c and o.
Practicing the correct formation of lowercase c and o in her handwriting book.
Both letters start from the top.
Remember to remind your child that if they want to make a letter
remember it starts from the top.

Thursday's Read Aloud
The children know and love this story!
It is used for retelling practice.
Retelling is an important skill.
Reading
Practice reading his completed Pete Loves Shoes.
He uses his right pointer finger to point under the words he reads practicing careful matching.
Left hand has a job as well, hold the book and helps turn the pages.
When your child is reading to you please have them handle the book themselves!
Word Study: I
Independent Work: Super Hero Word worksheet
So far we have formally studied important star names in our classroom as well as the words: love, a and I.
When these practice worksheets come home in your child's Home/School Folder it would be helpful if you connected and asked what word they studied. If they know it in a snap great! If they forgot it would be helpful to practice that word. Maybe a sticky note on the wall over their bed until they know it in a snap.
A kindergarten goal is to build high-frequency words (snap words).
Numbers are top to bottom.
