Last Week in September


Writers Workshop
The children are learning that writers call to mind what they want to say, then put that onto the page.
The children are learning to add to their pictures and add words.
This is share time after our mini-lesson and independent writing time.



Math Game: Counting, filling in a graph, and number writing.

























Many resources are used to help with formation.
Number lines are one of them.

Morning Meeting: Tuesday's share





The children's first Social Emotional Lesson (SEL) with Mrs. McDermott.

Morning Meeting: Message
Sharing the marker to complete the morning message.
One child brings home the message each day.

 in the message they bring home.



Wednesday's Read Aloud
This story helped us have great discussions regarding what they think they would like at Pond Cove.





















Read to self-time.  You may hear your child refer to this as Private Reading.  We are working on building reading stamina.  Currently, the children are reading independently for 3 minutes.


3 Ways to Read:
Read the pictures
Read the words
Retell the story





Book Bins: Each child has their own bin.  we will gradually build the books they can read in their bin.
This takes time.  Our paper books like Pete Loves Shoes are kept here too!

Miss Moe (Physical Therapist) pushes into the classroom to help our kindergartens with the mechanics of writing.  She reminds the children of the importance of the 3 Ps:

Our Handwriting Without Tears Program includes numbers.

Friday's Morning Meeting: Begins with a greeting.
This is passing the soccer ball.
We are practicing looking at the person we are greeting, saying the greeting, 
and awaiting a return greeting.



Share included passing Pete the Cat to share one thing they are looking forward to on the weekend.

September flew by!
See if your child can tell you the September pattern!

September Scholastic Book Order was placed!
Directories were turned in!
There is an extension for those who missed the directory due date.
They will be collecting order forms up to October 6th.
Please send yours in if still interested in being included in the district directory.
If you have misplaced your order form links are provided on the PCPA website.
Next week is a four-day week.  No school Friday (Staff Day).
