Second Week of May: May 13-17th

Mother's Day Writing
Last week you received Mother's Day magnets.
We hung the original piece of writing in the hallway for others to read and enjoy.
Eventually, these will come home as well.
Math
Lots of practice skip counting by 2s.

Small group work: Skip counting maze. 
Ask your child to skip count by two for you.

Quiet Time Choice: Color By 3D Shape.


Taylor Palmore joined us this week for her Senior Transition Project (STP).
She is helping students with the opportunity to observe the growth of their bean plant and water if needed.

Brittany Moon was our educator.

We learned about their two ponies first.


Felt the coarse fur on his head.



She then shared two rabbits.  There were two cages.
This is Lady Marmalade.  Long White Hair. Too shy to pet.


Taylor Palmore (Cape High School STP student) joined us on the field trip.
Empress Chutney's fur was short and grey and exceptionally soft!


So soft!

We were able to see and hear about the goats in the barn.


We saw and touched the sheep in the Farmyard.
Miss York and Brittany with the children.


We learned about pigs and piglets in the Farmyard.


This peafowl was magnificent!  Zeus is showing off feathers!

Celebrating another class birthday at our Morning Meeting on Thursday!
She is helping with the calendar.
Catching up the number of school days.
One Hundreds, tens, and ones.
Moving her cupcake to six years old.
She counted fourteen six-year-olds.  
Three to go! These three children are patiently awaiting their turn.
Summer birthdays will be celebrated during the last few days of school!  😎
Ms. Forrey-Pettit came to bring her to select birthday treats in the office.
She is pleased with her choices!
Thursday all kindergarten children took the NWEA (Math).
Counting on her fingers to solve (strategy encouraged).

Watch for these to come home in your child's Reading Journal bag for your child to read to you.
Encourage your child to read all the words in the book: title, sentences, and labels.


She is using several reading strategies learned to solve tricky words.

Some children rest and listen to her story, and some children try the moves!

3D Shapes: Hands-on sort by shape.

We are focusing on:
Sphere, cube, cylinder, cone, and rectangular prism.
Kindergarten math goal: Name 3D shapes.


This independent work focused on the sphere.

She lost her first tooth during the afternoon recess.  
She shared it with friends, and we got a tooth necklace so it would get home safely! 🦷
These two share a birthday so we gave Ms. Carey a crown too! 🎈👑
