Third week in November up until Thanksgiving break

                    Writer's Workshop

Show and Tell Writing
Some children brought from home something that they wanted to write about.

The alphabet chart is an important tool.
Encouraging writers to use all the tools they have.

Working on a book to show and tell about a place.
The children are showing great labeling and sentence writing.

This is my condo.  I like it!  It is a brown condo!

Saying the word out loud and listening for the sounds you hear.

Share time typically ends Writer's Workshop.

Morning Meeting: Share

Reading Work:
What does it start with?
What label could it be?
Match it up.

Chart Work at reading
Looking closely at words.
Good readers recognize and use the pattern, use the pictures,
& look at the first letter to help save tricky words.

Reading Group: Practicing careful match.  Emergent readers are being encouraged to point under the words they read to keep careful match.

I will let you know when your child has mastered this skill,
and has moved to practicing reading with their eyes (no pointing).

Handwriting: Capital X - wet try.

                                                                       Capital Y: Dry try.

                                                                                                                      Capital Z: Wet try.
