October (Four Days)

This week included practicing to write even hard-to-write ideas, creating a page for another birthday book, letter/sound work, syllable work, learning to properly form two new "frog jumping" capital letters (N & M), learning more about scientist and their work, practicing using science tools and the children's favorite ... an introduction to our iPads and how to use them safely!

You may have heard that we took a week off from eating snack outside due to pestering hornets.
With the cooler temperature on Friday, we tried it again with success!

Pumpkin, Pumpkin,
Big and Round.
Pick a pumpkin,
and make its sound.

Many children are comfortable naming the letter, but not the sound.
Any time you can naturally fit in making the first sound of a word in isolation would be helpful.

Read to Self: A leaf book featuring color words and the snap word I.
Working on keeping match when reading the book.

Quiet Time: Sketch Book Friday!

Introduction of the iPad.

Exploring on the pattern block app in our math folder.

I hope your child has shared they have new desk spots.
We are focusing on working and playing math a variety of peers and getting to know one another better.

The children were thrilled to end our school week with an iPad lesson.
We worked on "I Can iPad."
Being responsible with our new device.
iPads will be coming home for our November 2nd remote day.
Between now and then, we'll have several lessons focused on taking good care of the iPad
and learning the features.  Goal: to be more independent iPad users.

I hope you were able to take a few minutes to view the Virtual Open House I sent home!

Next week I will introduce them to DreamBox!
If all goes well we will take a look at our Google Classroom!
