A read-aloud to help generate ideas for Writer's Workshop.

Ms. Karnes was a Guest Reader mid morning on Monday!
She read Allie All Along by Sarah Lynee Reul.

A new story for many of us!

The book taught strategies for when you may not be feeling like yourself.

Math
We have been working with 2D shapes.
K Goal: To be able to name the five above.

A couple more that are often incorporated into instruction.

Has your child shared about Eagle Eye?
Eagle Eye is used when a reader is stuck on an unfamiliar word.
Eagle Eye reminds the children to think about what is in the picture that starts with that letter.

The children learned the words to a small reader called The Turkey using this pocket chart.

Completing Words for Me and a Sentence for Me page.

During our reading block, we study letters and words.

You may hear your child call a high-frequency word a "snap word."
After studying it, they should know the high-frequency word in a snap.

Kindergarten Goal: Read common high-frequency words by sight.

We will be working on the top 40 high-frequency words for kindergarten.
We have formally studied 12 words on that list.
Words we have studied: love, a, I, me, me, like, can, see, the, at, am, look
We have also worked often with the color words
red, blue, yellow, green, orange, purple, pink, black, white, brown, and gray.

When these word work worksheets come home it would be helpful if you could ask
your child to read to you the word they studied.
If they have forgotten it would be helpful to have that word hung
somewhere in the house to practice reading until confident.
These are words we are hoping they can read quickly.
Eventually, we look to see them use them in their creative writing.

Beginning turkey handprint cards.

Deciding what colors to use for their turkey.

Friday we finished painting all the hands and glued on the turkey's eyes.
Next week we will continue working on these special Thanksgiving Day Cards.
