Last Week in May and the Beginning of June

Celebrating another birthday in the classroom.
Morning Meeting: Share and activity: Singing happy birthday a couple ways!
🎈Happy 6th Birthday! 🧁

Morning Meeting: Message: Sharing the marker.

A turn with the pinwheel at a transition.
Deep breath in, and out for a count to six.

Science/Reading: learning about animal habits.
This emergent reader: The Forest

Completing one of the pages in the emergent reader.
Coming up with his own response.

Reading: Phonics: Blends

Sharing the dry-erase marker.

Phonics: Working independently to determine the correct blend.

Reading: Reading one-on-one with Mrs. Cornell.
Many of the children are working on fluency -reading in phrases and longer phrases.
Many children are working on a good retelling.
When your child's books come home to reread to you ask them to retell you what happened in the story.  Look for them to provide you with character names, detailed language,
and a good beginning, middle, and end.

Returning from receiving his book, certificate, and sticker from the office.
He was pleased with his choices!

Enjoying the climbing structure at recess!

Learning about Memorial Day

Watch for this emergent reader to come home in your child's reading journal bag.
Look for how they responded on this page.

Practicing reading her book to Mrs. Cornell.
Two or three rereads at home would be helpful for fluency.

the Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA) to as many children as we could fit in during the day.

Here she is working on a page in her All About Kindergarten Book.
