End of January, first few days of February (4 and a half days, Early Release Day Friday))


Writer's Workshop: Working on his true story.



Practicing using conventions - spaces between words.  
Sometimes children put their fingers down to create spaces.

Developing pieces to include: who, what, and where.





Great winter read-aloud!


  
Enjoying a nonfiction book.
Guided Reading: Practicing using slider power.


Reading: We are working on securing vowels.
Children are practicing reading consonant, vowel, and consonant words.



Independent work at the tables while guided reading is happening with the teacher.
When these worksheets come home for you to see, it would be beneficial if you could take a minute or two and ask your child to read them to you.  
Kindergarten goals: To be able to read them and carry that knowledge over into their writing pieces.

Reading: Practicing reading with his eyes to improve fluency.  When your child has secured a one-to-one match, I will encourage them to remove their finger and read with their eyes. They are always welcome to put that finger back to work on tricky words.

That afternoon we made predictions as to what would happen on Groundhog Day.

They had fun!


 Playing with the sea animals on a new ocean mat that was added.


Magna tiles were offered today!


The children were very excited and did a nice job sharing!


They were thrilled to work with these today.
Magna tiles are always a hit!
We will be studying 3D more over time.
