As part of the Our Earth unit we focused on this book about a young Mayan girl who is not allowed to use her mother's thread to weave, so she comes up with the idea of repurposing plastic bags to create colorful weavings. Several children said how much they enjoyed this story.

We enjoyed Friday's read aloud.
"Up in the garden, the world is full of green—leaves and sprouts, growing vegetables, ripening fruit. But down in the dirt exists a busy world—earthworms dig, snakes hunt, skunks burrow—populated by all the creatures that make a garden their home."
Our plants enjoying the light.
The children are keeping them watered and watching the growth.
Soon some will be hardened and transferred to the outdoor garden.

1. Keeping toys at home. Many more toys have been coming into school. Please take a look in your child's backpack.
2. Arriving to school on time whenever possible.
School officially starts at 8:35 am.
We start announcements at 8:45 am, thank you!
3. Sending your child's Home/School Folder every day now until the end of the school year. I will be sending things home daily, right up until the last day.
