On Tuesday morning after Memorial Day we were fortunate to have a special visitor(s).
Special thanks to Luke Holden (Bank's dad) for coming in for "Lobster 101!"
Above he is teaching the parts of a lobster, how to spot if it is a righty or lefty, what is required when catching a female lobster etc.
The children learned about how a trap works and what type of bait is best.
Demonstrating the gear and tools that are helpful when lobstering.
Demonstrating placing a band on their claws.
Each of the children had an opportunity to band a lobster claw, very fun!
This experience was very hands on. We all really enjoyed it!
It was a nice follow up to to Laisee Holden's visit last month in which she read
to the children her book Poppy's Promise.
Both visits helped the children learn about sustainability.
Learning about handing a lobster safely.
Some children were up for touching the shell. 🦞
At recess the girls are creating a "fairy lobster shack!" 🤩
K for Me focus read aloud this week for the Our Earth Unit.
This is an optimistic tale about how to do some good in your own backyard.

Environment posters
The children were challenged to work hard on designing environment posters.
No air pollution.
They were motivated by the opportunity to hang them in Pond Cove.
The were encouraged to take their time, access all their knowledge of spelling patterns,
and use their best handwriting!
If partnering, they had to agree on where to hang it in Pond Cove.
Some worked hard independently. Well done!
So proud of their teamwork!
Thank you, a nice addition to the classroom!
This week:
Thursday: Field Day! Please apply sunscreen before school. Please send sneakers and a water bottle with your child's name labeled on it.
Many parents have asked how they can
help at this time of year.
You can help by keeping routines:
1. Sending rested children to school. It is a busy time of year and many children are tired.
2. Keeping toys at home. Many more toys have been coming into school.
Please take a look in your child's backpack.
3. Returning library books and bags.
Many came back last week, helpful!
4. Sending your child's Home/School Folder every day now until the very last day of school. I will be sending things home daily, right up until the last day, thank you! 😊
