October 7-11th, 2024

                                     

Mrs. Joiner joined us Monday for our first technology lesson.

The children learned the basic features of their school iPad.

They also learned how to care for their iPad safely.











The children are learning about the camera feature.

They took a selfie and saved it as a background for their individual iPad.

This will help us locate each child's iPad faster when we need to use them.

At this time of year children are practicing many things in their writing.
They are sketching detailed illustrations, labeling with the letter sounds they can hear, 
writing words they know, and telling their stories with more detail.

When your child is practicing at home please encourage top to bottom formation.

In our Scholastic News Lets Find Out we learned about 
John Chapman (Johnny Appleseed).


This tied in with our learning of names, nicknames.


We sorted and counted apples, and completed a graph.
We sang the Apples and Bananas Song changing vowels.

Chrysanthemum had 13 letters in her name.
We are learning how many letters in each of the children's names in our class community.  
We are practicing reading each other's names.  We counted the letters.
She is fancying the letters in her name.
These will be hung in our classroom.






Quiet Time choice on Thursday
 Cosmic Yoga: Arnold the Ant, apples.
Letter Aa has been studied.
When time allows at home have your child point out things that begin with both short and long Aa.
Remind your child that some letters make more than one sound.

A quick picture before the blocks needed to be cleaned up for the long weekend.
The children who work in the block center work together to sort the blocks back 
to their proper places on the block shelf!  Most children 
have been very good about this important responsibility! ♥️
