Dry Try
wet try
We enjoyed several fun Halloween stories this week.
Working on letter formation with our names.
Tall letters, low letters and tail letters.
Reading Work: We are practicing reading left to right, top to bottom.
We are looking closely at print and working to keep match.
We are looking at patterns in books.
We are focusing on 2 strategies right now:
Getting our lips ready to make the first sound in the word
and
Using the picture to help solve the unknown word
This chart work was made into a paper book that your child will bring home to practice read.
When the book makes it home, please let your child practice these skills when reading their book to you.
Remote learning: practicing detailed pictures and labeling to tell a story.
Saying the word aloud & listening for the sounds in words is a very important part of our writing program,
practice when you can at home.
We have been singing this song at morning meeting.
Ask your child if they can sing it for you & show you some of the movements we have been doing.
The gold crew!
In the morning after the children have completed their daily jobs they have morning work.
Working on securing recognition of color words.
Looking to make these words "snap words"
which means they can recognize and read them in a snap!
Having had fun Thursday and Friday with the story
Where's My Mummy? by Carolyn Crimmi.
Creepy Pair of Underwear by Aaron Reynolds.
We made a pair of creepy underwear to bring home.
We practiced many skills: tracing, cutting, gluing, details, creativity & sharing!
Lots of fine motor practice!
Creepy Underwear!
Science
Conducting and experiment!
Question: Will the pumpkin sink or float?
Predicting, observing, recording & making conclusions.
Individual recording sheet.
I hope you found your child's recording sheet in their Home/School folder and
could take a few minutes to talk about our science experiment.
The gold groups whole class recording sheet.
Math
Learning about recording on a horizontal graph.
Counting and recording carefully.
Working on fine motor skills.
Choice Time
At the end of each day the children have choice time.
Q-tip pumpkin painting.
Also working on fine motor while having some fun with tempera paint.
It is fun to see what each child chooses for their choice time activity.
Closing Circle
We try to have closure everyday before dismissal.
This popular poem by Jack Prelutsky was shared.
I hope your children found enjoyable moments this weekend even with all that is going on that keeps us from enjoying some of what we typically might wish top be doing!
Things to remember:
1. Clean out your child's Home/School Folder after each in person learning day.
2. Pack sneakers for gym.
3. Pack warmer clothes for our outdoor time. We go outside twice daily weather permitting.
Thanks for your support!
