Our school uses the Learning Without Tears Program. Mat Man is made of big and little lines, and big and little curves just like the letters in the alphabet. Your child may be able to sing the song to you.

 We read Elmer by David Mckee. Water colors were introduced and each child painted their own Elmer.

Kindergarten took a mini field trip today to practice bus safety.

Officer Estes partners with Mr Young (one
of our bus drivers) to talk about bus safety.

Each kindergartener practiced opening the back
door of the bus and exiting the bus safely.

Learning our routine!

Each morning when your child comes into
school they are greeted, they wash their hands,
they sign in and then we record their lunch 
on this board with magnets.
It is very helpful if you can discuss home or school
lunch with your child, thanks!

Also helpful is keeping a small (10 oz. or less) spill proof water bottle
at school. The water bottles stay in the classroom in the children's mailbox
for easy access. We have a wonderful filtration center at school for
refills. I will send the water bottles home on long weekends and breaks
to be washed. Thanks for your support with this!

Recess

The children are especially happy
when they can get a bouncy ball!
We are learning to take turns!

About once a week we will read together a
Scholastic News Let's Find Out. We read and
discuss it digitally on our big white board.
We read, watch videos, play games & discuss.
Afterwards each child has their own copy to
work on at the tables. Please look for this in your
child's Home/School folder (approximately once a week).
Maybe your child can read some to you or
retell about our learning.

We have specifically focused on 0-7.
We have been in school 7 days!

Day Six in Kindergarten!

Day six means the children have met all their Allied Arts teachers!

The children met Mr. Charltray and visited the Creation Station!

As a reminder our Allied Arts schedule operates on a six day rotation which 

was sent home. The rotation can always be found at the tabs at the 

top of this blog. We were also able to take part in a school wide evacuation
practice. The children seem very comfortable with this. They did a great job!

We read this great story. If you don't know it, it is a great one to have in your home library.

Recess
While our playground is being constructed we
are using the green space outside our library to

Math: We read The Secret Birthday Message by Eric Carle. We graphed all our birthdays. It was nice to hear that many children can state their birthday month and day! If you are viewing this blog with your child ask them what they notice about our graph. We are excited to celebrate our fist classroom birthday later this month!

Day Five in Kindergarten!

The children met Ms. Kennedy and visited the health room for the first time!

Mrs. Gallagher came to our classroom for our first
guidance lesson. She explained to the children
her role as School Counselor.

We read this great story which highlights our town
and a former bus driver. We discussed bus safety.

How To: The children learned how to operate the players at the Listening Center.
The children were happy to begin using their headphones.
Listening to a book is now an option at Choice Time.
