Day Three in Kindergarten!
The children met Mr. Shields and had their first visit to the gym!

We are having many conversations about making friends.
The children loved this book!
Learning about the importance of being
responsible, respectful & safe.
We practiced walking out to our safe spot as a class.
We read and enjoyed:
Pete the Cat Rocking in my School Shoes by Eric Litwin.









It can look like this.
Introducing Quiet Time which takes place after lunch and recess.
Calming instrumental music is played.
Books are an option.

Your child is welcome to keep a
blanket and one small stuffy at school.

Day Two in Kindergarten! 
The children met Ms. Bean and participated in their first music class! 

We learned "Sign In."
I greet the children at the door, they wash & sign in.
We talk about home lunch or school lunch.
At sign in the children trace their name practicing left to right
and top to bottom formation.
They are practicing making a capital for their first letter and then trying lowercase.
Sign in is also used for attendance.

A little more with The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn.
We learned this poem and practiced using stamps.
I hope you saw this come home via your child's Home/School folder.

When the children work and play I try to mix the groups so we
can get to know each other. Sometimes twos, threes, fours etc.

                                Day One in Kindergarten!
Wow, our first day was very busy! We practiced some of our routines (lockers, hand washing, greeting others, lining up, cafeteria expectations, playground safety, mailboxes, Home/School folder and more). We learned about our daily schedule and went to our first Allied Arts. The children met Ms. Rosenblum and participated in their first visit to the Media Center! We read The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn and completed projects based on the book. Several were tired, the day went by so quickly!

Welcome to Pond Cove Kindergarten!

Welcome!
I am excited to be teaching kindergarten again this year and look forward to meeting all the children and their families very soon! I encourage families to visit our classroom blog often! It will be the spot where I will update you on our learning. You will be able to see the children working and playing.
