We read: The Secret Birthday Message by Eric Carle.

Children counted, compared and represented data
about their birthday months.
If your child does not yet know their birthday it would be a great thing to practice when time allows.  :)

Did your child mention to you that Officer Dave stopped into our classroom to introduce himself and explain his role at Pond Cove School and in our community? The children asked him lots of good questions. We had a great discussion about safety. Officer Dave strongly recommends that all children learn their parents names and their home address.

Wednesday we celebrated our first class birthday, what fun!

On your child's birthday they will be the leader of the day!
We will sing to them at our meeting. Each child will receive a few birthday surprises: a birthday crown, a pencil, a bracelet and a book that they will select. Peers will each illustrate a birthday page that will complete a book for the birthday child to bring home.

Sharing at our meeting.

Sharing a surprise treat with peers.
There were many smiles & I heard lots of thank yous!  :)

Meet Mat Man!
Mat Man was introduced this week!
Our school uses the Handwriting Without Tears Program (HWOT). Mat Man is made of big and little lines and big and little curves. We practiced drawing a person this week. We did a guided discovery of dry erase markers.
